Georgia Head Start Day at The State Capitol

GHSA annual day at Georgia’s Gold Dome will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025.  During the event, GHSA representatives will greet  State Legislators and provided them with information showing the impact of Head Start and Early Head Start in Georgia. This event also honors  Susie D. Wilcher and her contributions to Head Start and Georgia Pre-K.  Susie Wilcher served as GHSA’s past Issues, Advocacy, and Legislative committee and Personnel committee chairpersons.  She also served as one of GHSA’s past Presidents. Susie Wilcher passed away in August 2022.  She had been the Executive Director for the Washington County Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club, Inc. for 40 years.

 

NHSA Fall Leadership Institute

Georgia Program grantees sent 24 representatives to the Annual Fall Leadership Institute held September 15-18 , 2025 in Washington, D.C.  Capitol Hill Day was held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.  Georgia representatives traveled to the Nation’s Capitol to meet with Legislative staff members and elected officials to share Program success stories and to advocate for Head Start in Georgia.  The in-person scheduled visits included meetings with the  following Legislative offices.

We thank our elected officials for their service to our Nation and our State.  We thank each of them for meeting with us during our visit to the Nation’s Capitol on September 17, 2025 and we thank them for their support of Head Start!
